Job Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our team in the Retail/FMCG sector. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with accounting principles, and efficient financial operations. This position involves managing expense accruals, journal entries, and account reconciliations while providing vital support for financial and tax reporting processes. The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in retail accounting systems and familiarity with Point-of-Sale (POS) software.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Expense Accruals and Reconciliation:
Accurately calculate and record expense accruals (e.g., utilities, rentals, amortizations) at the end of each month.
Ensure all expenses are allocated to the appropriate accounting periods in line with financial regulations.
Perform monthly reconciliations to maintain the accuracy of expense records.

2. Journal Entries and Account Reconciliation:
Process journal entries promptly and ensure they adhere to financial reporting standards.
Regularly reconcile assigned accounts to uphold data integrity and accuracy.

3. Financial and Tax Reporting:
Provide accurate financial data for reporting, including tax compliance documentation.
Assist the Chief Accountant in preparing financial statements and reports in alignment with regulatory requirements.

4. Support for Financial Operations:
Collaborate with the Chief Accountant to manage accounting processes and reporting cycles efficiently.
Participate in monthly and yearly financial closing activities to ensure timely submissions.

5. Cash and Bank Management:
Maintain updated records of daily cash and bank balances.
Ensure all transactions are recorded accurately in line with company policies.

6. System and Software Maintenance:
Ensure consistent and accurate use of Microsoft Accounting Systems or Retail ERP Systems.
​Maintain and troubleshoot Point-of-Sale (POS) device software to ensure seamless financial integrations.


Requirements
1. Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.


2. Language Proficiency:
Fluent in English (written and verbal).


3. Experience:
2 to 4 years of experience in the Retail or Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) industry.
Demonstrated expertise in accounting practices specific to retail or FMCG contexts.


4. Technical Expertise:
Proficient in Microsoft Accounting Systems or Retail ERP Systems.
Familiar with Point-of-Sale (POS) device software and its integration with financial systems.


5. Skills and Attributes:
Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial legislation, and tax compliance.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills.
Ability to work independently while also being a collaborative team player.


Working Experience: 3 - 5 Years

Education: First Degree
