Job Presentation
Job Purpose
The IT Support Administrator will provide help and advice to staff using
computer software or equipment. He shall support information technology (IT)
employees within the organisation and assist non-IT users who are having computer or
application problems. Test and evaluate computer hardware, software, and/or systems(networks)
Key Responsibilities
Perform periodic maintenance of the computer network (WLAN/LAN, hardware, and software).
Troubleshoot computer-related problems; develop and implement solutions tothose problems in a timely manner.
Test and evaluate existing network systems.
Perform regular maintenance to ensure that networks operate correctly.
Manage and maintain local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and wireless networks
Configure and optimize network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, and VPN
Monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues
Responsible for a variety of recovery tasks (e.g., installing and testing replacement hardware and software, keeping customers apprised of work status).
Install, configure, and maintain servers, operating systems and applications (Windows/Linux environment).
Work often as part of a team of technicians to resolve high-priority situations.
Work independently on routine (lower priority) problems.
Work well in high-pressure situations (e.g., computer or system shutdowns).
Make decisions quickly, often with limited information.
Train users how to use new hardware, and software; use new features of existing software, etc.


General IT Support
Provide helpdesk and desktop support and resolve problems to the end user’s satisfaction.
Monitor and respond quickly and effectively to requests received through the IT helpdesk.
Monitor Service Desk for tickets assigned to the queue and process first-in first-out based on priority.
Modify configurations, utilities, software default settings, etc. for the local workstation.
Assign users and computers to proper groups in Active Directory
Ensure each workstation has a computer, monitor, keyboard, mouse, hard drive, and any additional specialized equipment.
Install, test and configure new workstations, peripheral equipment and software.
Maintain inventory of all equipment, software, and software licenses
Manage PC setup and deployment for new employees using standard hardware, and software.
Assign users and computers to proper groups in Active Directory
Perform timely workstation hardware and software upgrades as required.
Complete any other task assigned by an IT Manager and or a higher Authority.

Educational/Professional Qualification, Experience & Skills
Educational Qualification
First Degree in Computer Science or IT-related degree or equivalent experience
A certification in any software application development or administration

Experience
Minimum of 4 years’ experience working in a similar role
Experience and sound working knowledge of the following areas
Backup/recovery technologies (Backup Exec, Windows Server Backup)
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
Customer-focused approach


Desirable Skills
Recognized Industry certification.
Experience and knowledge of the following areas:
Ability to work under pressure whilst demonstrating a flexible, enthusiastic, and hardworking attitude.
Understands Internet, Intranet, Extranet and client/server architectures.
General overview of emerging Technologies and cloud-based services.


Working Experience: 3 - 5 Years

Education: First Degree
Requirements
  • First Degree in Computer Science or IT-related degree or equivalent experience
  • A certification in any software application development or administration
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience working in a similar role
  • Experience and sound working knowledge of the following areas
  • Backup/recovery technologies (Backup Exec, Windows Server Backup)
