Our client, a travel and tour agency is looking to hire an experienced and professional Event/Meeting Planner to take charge of the company’s event planning department in West Africa and oversee all work related to developing the itinerary and making plans on behalf of a traveller.

ROLE PROFILE
The successful candidate will be accountable for organising and coordinating meetings for special events and developing tour itineraries for business and leisure. He or she will perform these tasks in addition to the following.

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
Establish relationships with clients, visit venues of events, and ensure that the right measures are set.
Understand clients' needs and make necessary inquiries to meet client's goals.
Organise the logistics of events and ensure that requirements are met to satisfy client’s needs.
Make recommendations suitable for unique client needs.
Ensure events are run smoothly and properly carried out by the right staff.
Oversee and manage the budget and cost of events to ensure that all expenses allocated are rightfully used
Coordinate with vendors to ensure timely execution of duties during events.
Collect and evaluate feedback post-event sessions to improve services for excellent outcomes.
Select appropriate venues for events organisation.
Ensure staff understand their responsibilities by briefing them on their duties to plan an event successfully.
Attend industry workshops and conferences to maintain a professional network and improve skills.
Ensure all legal permits are in place for event planning.


Working Experience: More than 10 years

Education: First Degree
Requirements
  • EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
  • Must have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Hospitality/Tourism, or a related academic field
  • Must have a minimum of 10 years’ verifiable experience in Hotel, Tourism or Travel with at least 5 of those years directly as an Event/Meeting Planner.
  • Must have at least 5 years of relevant experience with a reputable, recognised business in the industry.REQUIREMENTS
  • Must have extensive experience working with clients, venues, and suppliers.
  • Possess strong listening and speaking skills and be able to build rapport with people within a short period.
  • Exhibit good negotiation skills to get clients affordable and high-quality services and products.
  • The ability to manage time effectively and tackle multiple tasks at a goal.
  • Must have excellent customer service skills to be able to deliver maximum satisfaction to clients.
  • Must be proactive and able to identify discrepancies in daily tasks.
  • Must be creative and flexible in organising events.
  • Must be detail-oriented to ensure every event aspect is well planned.
  • Ability to promote events and engage an audience.
