Term of Reference (ToR)

Project Manager

VIS- Volontariato Internationale per lo Sviluppo is looking for a Project Manager envisaged within the program titled “Community Project Skills Training via NGO”, funded by GIZ. VIS implements projects on Migration and Sustainable Development to pursue what is set by Target 10.7 of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development: “Facilitate orderly, safe, and responsible migration and mobility of people, including through implementation of planned and well-managed migration policies”.
VIS considers irregular migration as a complex issue that needs a multi-faceted and multidisciplinary approach. For this reason, its action focuses on promoting a holistic development by improving people’s sustainable living conditions so that each human being will be able to live a fulfilling life in their own country. Capacity building and partnership are fundamental to raise the standard of living, promote human rights and tackle irregular migration. VIS holistically tackles irregular migration by adopting a community-based and Human Rights based approach: as a matter of fact, on one side, the interventions aims at co-creating community learning and income-generating spaces and are co-designed together with community’ members, traditional authorities and local municipalities; actions are co-implemented with returnees’ migrants whose voices become amplified and their lived-experiences as immigrants central in the peer-to-peer mentoring’s scheme. On the other side, VIS motto “free to leave, free to stay” encompasses the notions of duty bears and rights holders: States and other actors of the society have a legal duty to respect, protect, and fulfil the rights of those under their jurisdiction including potential migrants, migrants, and returnees.
Moreover, in order to transform mainstream narrative, discourage irregular migration, promote regular paths, and encourage the reintegration of returnees, VIS has defined an intervention package that includes three (3) working pillars: Prevention, Empowerment, and Advocacy. Prevention and Advocacy initiatives are usually carried out at local, regional, national levels through awareness campaign, establishment of Public Private Partnerships and Coordination Platforms, research, and analysis. Empowerment is intended mainly in terms of fostering access to quality education and decent jobs, improving the livelihood of groups at risk by promoting organic agriculture techniques and sustaining the development of innovative business ideas.
Aside from migration, VIS Ghana is committed to implement projects also in the fields of:
