Safe Child Ghana - Tema

Safe Child Ghana prevents child injury and promote safety of children through awareness and education to achieve behavioral change. Our target is children below 18 years as injury is the number one cause of death for this group. Therefore, we go on radio, show child safety videos on buses, visit schools and communities to educate on child safety at home, school and on our roads.

Turning Point: After witnessing several preventable injuries of children, Michael Baabu founded Safe Child Ghana in 2009, to intervene and promote child safety, and has since affected directly over 250,000 children in Ghana.

We are operating in Tema, Ashaiman and other Sixteen (16) vulnerable Municipalities in Three (3) Regions of Ghana, namely Greater Accra, Central and Eastern.

Schools who receive periodic safety education on various topics. We also organise “Child Safety Award competitions” for our members to inspire pupils to safety lives. This Initiative has helped reduce injury in all schools we operate.

We also build strong partnerships with volunteers, traditional authorities, local governments, schools, United Nations’ Agencies, community leaders, other NGOs, Ministries and Agencies.
