Schools in Ghana are a vital part of the country's educational system, providing a range of educational opportunities to children and young adults. Secondary schools in Ghana are the next level of education, and are divided into Junior High Schools (JHS) and Senior High Schools (SHS). JHS are for students between the ages of 12 and 15 and focus on academic subjects such as English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies and Religion. SHS are for students aged between 15 and 18 and offer a more in-depth education, including vocational and technical courses.
Tertiary schools in Ghana are the highest level of education and are divided into Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges of Education. Universities are the most prestigious type of tertiary institution and offer a range of undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. Polytechnics offer more practical courses such as engineering
