Company description
Since 2004, Our Generation Voluntary Organisation (OGVO) has been providing safe, unique, meaningful and extremely affordable volunteer and intern programs in Ghana.

Our organisation is involved mission works including volunteerism in all fields especially working in schools, orphanage homes; hospitals etc.
In addition, we also involved in community services and travel, raise funds for building or refurbishing dilapidated building in schools, hospitals in remote areas in Ghana.
Our Generation Voluntary Organisation, we pride ourselves with bridging cultures, languages, sex and race, thereby building healthy
Show more environment for all volunteers and interns. (Please we invite you to visit our website at http://www.ogvoghana.org for more information).

OGVO also accepts high schools groups, universities/collegies groups, and families.

Our programs are available throughout the year. We have flexible start dates and durations; you can volunteer any week of the month and any month of the year with advanced notice. You can volunteer from 1 week to six months. Programs can also possibly be extended with advanced notice as well.
Accommodations:

The accommodation type we arrange for volunteers is the family stay type. This means that volunteers stay with a family as their host. Our home-stay families can provide the following features in Ghana:

* Electricity
* Running water
* Toilet (WC) and Bath room
* Kitchen and dinning table
* Private room with basic furniture (volunteer’s can choose to share the room with another volunteer but the cost will remain the same.)

In the rural areas, the resources are limited and the living condition can be basic.

Three meals a day are provided by the home-stay families.

Breakfast is usually ready by around 7am, however you can eat later if you prefer to get up late. Lunch is usually packed, by your host family in a lunch box so that you can eat at your project if you wish. Dinner is usually served around 7pm.

If you have special eating needs, you can indicate that while applying. Even though special eating needs are not something we can guarantee, we will do our best to meet your needs.

It is exciting to live with a local family. This way, you can easily learn the local way of life, meet local people, and feel more like a part of Ghana rather than just a tourist. We strongly encourage you to try the local flavours and experience the local culture and traditions as much as possible. Keep in mind that it is important to be open-minded and to be flexible. You shouldn’t expect that you would eat the same food or have the same lifestyle as you do at home. Actually, one of the most important things you will learn abroad is how their way of living is just as correct as yours.The hosts families are consistently screened with their information updated on regular basis to make sure they meet our standards and also match to volunteers we send over to them.

Best Suited For:

The minimum age to apply is 16 years old, although some of our programs require you to be older.

All our programs require a good/basic level of English language although you do not need to be a native English speaker. Some of our programs require specific qualifications or experience, for instance, our medical internships require applicants to have professional experience within the medical field or be studying towards a medical related degree at university. More information on these requirements can be found within the program information page on our website.
